Parking stall sizes vary by location and intended use, but here are some common dimensions:

Standard

In Canada, the standard parking space is 9 ft by 17 ft, while in the US it's 8 ft 6 in by 18 ft. These sizes are meant for average-sized cars like sedans, minivans, and crossovers

Large

For larger vehicles like trucks and vans, the standard size is usually 9 ft by 20 ft

Compact

For smaller cars like smart cars, coupes, and fiats, the standard size is 8 ft by 16 ft

Parallel

The standard size for a parallel parking space is 8 ft 6 in by 23 ft, which includes 4 ft of safety space

Accessible

In Toronto, accessible parking spaces are 5.6 m long, 3.9 m wide, and have a vertical clearance of 2.1 m

Parking lots should also include a mix of large and small spaces to accommodate different types of vehicles. The aisles between rows of parking spaces should be 14–24 ft wide, depending on whether the aisle is one-way or two-way. Two-way aisles need to be wider to allow vehicles to safely travel in opposite directions

Local regulations may have different requirements for parking spaces, so it's best to check with your local bylaw officer
